Uranus Enters Taurus (May 15, 2018 — April 26, 2026)

Today Uranus moves into Taurus. This is what I wrote in my 2018 Forecast about this important shift of Uranus from Aries into Taurus:

Uranus in Taurus – Transformation of Value
Uranus in Taurus, (2018–2026) will bring startling transformations to the realm of Values. The previous times for Uranus in Taurus were 1935–1942, 1851–59 and 1768–75. Those periods were characterized by upheavals and rapid changes in Society and Culture and brought about new orderings of Economic and Political structures. These Uranian shocks and turnings break old identifications, leading to revolutionary breakthroughs in Ideas and Technology, in Society and Culture. Uranus leads us beyond our self-created Saturnian boundaries, and in Taurus it creates a new Fabric of Meaning. Uranus in Taurus will usher in a new Value Hierarchy, and a so new kind of Human too. The self-limiting attachments to outworn ways and values are broken, and a new way of being emerges.

One critical observation of Uranus’ three previous passages through Taurus should be apparent to those who study history. Each of these prior periods were followed in US history by our greatest conflicts, World War II, The Civil War, and The War of Independence.

The past is never a perfect predictor of the future, nothing ever remains the same in these very complex, interpenetrating cycles of the planets, and we should understand that no pattern can ever truly “repeat”. But there are most certainly revealed here resonances or rhymes. These Signs and Planets hold the forms and meanings that can reveal to us the heartbeat of spiritual growth in our self-transformational journey. These “Songs of Spirit” echo down through the corridors of history and they should give us pause now to consider what may lie ahead.

Perhaps it is in the very nature of Uranus, which is to break up the old orders of Value held by Taurus, which lead to these great conflicts between peoples and cultures, both within and between nations. The historical record would certainly seem to indicate that this is so for the USA. But does this mean that our future is fated; that we are merely witnessing now the beginning of the next great world-wide conflict?

I for one do not believe that history “repeats”. The human kingdom is on an ever-rising path of spiritual awakening. There is within all of us an abiding faith and hope that we will find “the way” to more perfectly align ourselves with our divine essence, and that we will remain true to our higher self who lovingly calls to us to remember from whence we came, and why we are here for one another.

We are on a Journey of Life-Consciousness-Spirit; we are here on Earth for one reason, we are here to learn to be fully human. We are to become ever more centered in our Spiritual Essence and Truth to live with a Freer Mind, Unconditional Love and a righteously Centered Will. It is by this self-made path that we will rise above our earlier errors that were founded in misunderstanding and fear. These dark echoes, flashing forward into our present circumstances, remind us that we have fallen before.

We need not repeat our past mistakes; we can take these gifts of the spirit, offered at this time by Uranus in Taurus, to break our identification with the misshapen husks of value and reveal the deeper truth of beauty, grace and love that shines through our world and in one another. We are luminous beings; let us shine for one another. Let us love one another.

It is our ever-unfolding realization that we are part of a greater story, the story of spirit, the journey of the Divine to become fully manifest in our world and in one another. We will heal the misunderstandings between one another and come to the truth that all our errors, all our pains and sufferings, have come from this greatest illusion, the illusion that we are separate from one another (and from this creation too). We, and all of Creation, are one in Spirit. We are here to be Creators and to live our lives in Love, Beauty and Truth.

For each of you, look to where you have the Sign of Taurus in your own chart, (and equally, if you have any planets there, that will make this an even more significant passage for you). It is in this realm of Taurus that you experience and reveal your deepest experience of Value and Beauty.

Understand that as Uranus moves through Taurus it will elicit from you the necessity that is at the heart of Spirit. If Spirit is Life; and Life is Spirit, then we are here quite simply to grow. You are here to become a fully awakened human and you must be open to Change. Let go of the lesser, more circumscribed reaches of your aesthetic, moral and spiritual values. It is in your essential nature to become more than what you were, to lift yourself and humanity closer to the Divine which is shining there within you.

A new humanity is coming; but it is upon one and all to lovingly make this so.

Let us shine together!

The Full Moon in Scorpio – The Buddha Moon (Sunday April 29, 2018)

I thought it would be helpful to have the transcript from my radio show. If you want to listen the podcast, here is the link to that: Podcast on the Full Moon.

Today we will consider the meaning of the Full Moon in Scorpio which is also known as the Buddha Full Moon. The reason for this name comes from the story of the Buddha, who was said to have been born in the month of Taurus at the Full Moon of Scorpio, and who after much striving achieved enlightenment or Cosmic Consciousness at another Full Moon in Scorpio, and finally, when his work was done, laid aside his physical vehicle at yet another Full Moon in Scorpio. The essence of these Teachings of the Buddha is wonderfully illustrated for us in this dynamic integral relationship between the Sun in Taurus and the Moon in Scorpio.

The Lunar Cycle

The cycle of the Sun and Moon, (from New Moon, to Waxing Square, to Full Moon, to Waning Square, to the next New Moon), forms the archetypal pattern of all the planetary cycles we experience here on Earth. Through reflection and corresponding application, we can obtain a deeper understanding about our journey offered by this language of the stars. I have often called these planetary cycles “a dance of the planets”, and it is like the weaving of meaningfulness offered by the spiritual hierarchies of our brothers and sisters, the beautiful planetary hierarchy that is our home among the stars.

The Twelve Signs of the Zodiac hold the archetypal myths and meanings to guide our journey. The reflective comparison of signs that are opposite to one another, helps to inform and illuminate the meanings of them both. Life or Spirit is formed by this journey through the Signs, each resonating with its own messages, but these individual meanings can only be truly understood by considering each one in their relationship with its opposite, and then ultimately with every other sign too. Each Sign is formed and informed by the other, as we do much the same in our relationships with one another here on Earth too. Think of it this way, almost all your thoughts, sensibilities, tastes and truths that you hold as your own, they were brought to you, woven into you, through the intricate web of life that you have shared with all with whom you travel now, and by the countless hosts who came this way before us in our collective journey in Spirit.

Taurus/Scorpio

We are now in the time of Taurus, and it is the most earthy or materializing moment in the Zodiac. This is the time that you relish, celebrate and enjoy your own physical experiences, which for you is most certainly being in your human body. But the Full Moon of Scorpio posits the other side of this, nothing in this world is permanent. All things are born, live and pass on. The Question of the Taurus/Scorpio is: How do you do this, how do you cope with the joys of being alive and the ever-present threat that it all will end someday? This question, truly, is the source of all Religions, Philosophy and Science. We know that we are alive; and we know that we are going to die.

But you should know, that you are relatively Immortal, as you are at your core a unique monad of Spirit-Life-Consciousness. This innermost of you is what you would call the Self, which is the awareness that pervades all of Creation, and this is in fact at the core of one and All. For all of Creation, from atoms, through minerals, onto plants, animals, humans and beyond, all of Creation is alive and conscious.

This Self or Atman is your spiritual self who is directing, guiding and inspiring and lifting your lower vehicles upward, as you move from World to World, and through Form after Form, and into each Life after Life. In all these forms you are a composite, formed into bodies of various degrees of substance. You descend and extend down from the most sublime realms into the lower mental realms, down into the emotional realms and finally arrive in your physical form that you enjoy so much now, the human body.

As you move into these realms of the material, you are here quite simply to learn to be a better human, to be a complete human, to master yourself and your powers of creation. But you will, time and time again, become too enamored by and attached to some particular experience, you will wish to prolong and maintain some thing. And because this is so, you will experience pain.

For this is the ticket you punched in coming to Earth, you walk in mortal forms and upon a mortal world. This is the deal on Earth, if you experience joy you will also have pain, if you find love you will also experience loss, for this is the price of being an immortal in a mortal world. How can you live with this, knowing and feeling so much pain?

Remember, there is one imperative driving all of this, an unceasing force arising from within you, and that one irresistible light is Spirit whose only drive is to be and to become. Spirit is Growth; Spirit is Life and therefore Change. You (and every part of Creation) are this Spirit which equals Life ever becoming something more. That is why the great injunction in all spiritual disciplines is that you are never done, that you must always “walk on”. This means that in each of your lives you must continuously strive to “let go and grow”. This is the fundamental teaching that the Buddha offers, and this is one of the core principles of the Ancient Teachings, which are found in all cultures and exists at that living heart of all religion, philosophy and science.

There is nothing permanent ultimately, there is nothing permanent or “lasting” in these material realms or higher realms because they are all composites, held together by the Intelligence, Love and Will that form the heart of every mote and speck of this Universe. It is that Spiritual Core or Essence which moves from World to World, through Life after Life. All these vehicles or bodies must be free to evolve into new forms, but so do their Spiritual Centers who likewise grow into an ever-greater splendor. Both the Spiritual Heart and the Material Body will grow and become and be re-formed again and again into ever more meaningful forms of spiritual self-realization.

This is what you need to consider today at the Full Moon in the time of Taurus, the Scorpio Full Moon, and though I am fond of saying, “you are an Immortal in a mortal frame”, the truth is that nothing is ultimately Immortal, for that would mean that even the most sublime part of you was finished, not capable of growth and change. And that is just not so. For this cosmic cycle, your innermost, most Sublime Self is “relatively” Immortal, and from life to life is the fountain-source of Inspiration and Guidance as you seek to free yourself from your sleep, from your unconscious, as you steadily move towards becoming an “Awakened One”. Quite simply, you are on the path of becoming fully human. You are on the same path as the Buddha.

You are part of a hierarchy of Spirit-Life-Consciousness, and though you are in the Human Kingdom now, one day you will face the same choice that all the “great ones” have faced. Once you are truly free, what is known as a Jivanmukta, or freed monad, you will have the great choice of continuing beyond this human kingdom into more sublime spiritual realms, OR, you may choose to turn and extend your love and care for those who still struggle behind you. We are told that most who have crossed this threshold of liberation have made their loving choice to remain and help those who come after. They are known as the Watchers, the saviors and saints who hold open the door of liberation for you. They send you loving thoughts and inspirations to lift yourself and one another towards that sublime state of beauty, grace and unconditional love that is your destiny.

What does this great teaching of the Buddha mean for you? It is said that the Buddha’s last words were this: “Brothers, all things that are, are composite, are compounds, built of other elements. Find your way to Truth”. It is said that many in the west have misinterpreted this to mean, “You should seek out your own salvation”. Nothing could be further from the truth. What the Buddha was saying is that the way to spiritual peace and happiness is to be present, to be totally here in the Cosmic Dance of Life. You will do this for yourself, and you will do this for one another too.

For you and them, and everything in this Universe is “That”, it is neither Self or non-Self, it is deathless because it is Eternity. It is THAT. You are That, I am That. It has no name, it is neither Spirit or non-Spirit. It is both. Beyond naming, beyond knowing, it is and is not, it is the ineffable That. The great illusion is that you are separate; the Great Truth is that we are one with one another, inseparable from one another in this Ocean of Spirit and Love. Behind and through all the realms from the most physical to the most transcendent, there is That.

You should celebrate being here fully and with great appreciation for the wonder of this beautiful world we call Earth. You should watch the beauty of the dawn unfolding before your eyes but know that it will end, and you must let it go. So, later that day, choose to turn, and watch the Sunset and know that it is good too. Life, Spirit and Beauty are forged and reborn in motion, in living. Know that you may meet a wonderful person by chance one afternoon, but then they may fly back home and that was it, just a few hours of bliss; or you are with your true love for many, many years, but finally, it is time to let them go as the end for now is here.

But you should also know, that you are not saying “goodbye” but truly just “fare thee well”, for you and I will be together again someday soon, that is certainly true. What has brought you to one another will hold you to one another in life after life for as long as the stars shine in the heavens above. Yes, the loss is real, it is quite right to mourn and cry and grieve the loss for now. But this is just for now, like all things this is not permanent either, for Love binds us all to one another, and we all held, protected and cherished by the love of the One and our love for one another.

Beauty, Love, Value are only present “in Life which is Spirit, in Spirit which is life”. All of Creation is moving, through countless forms and permutations, being something, letting go and becoming something so much more. You should do your utmost to preserve, protect and extend the worth and beauty and love in this world. But when it is time for matters to move on we must accept this and “Let it go…and Grow”.

You are to move through these temporal realms with ever greater Intelligence, Love and Will. You must hold; and you must let go. You breathe in; you breathe out. You learn to love and cherish the forms in which you abide, to love and protect yourselves and your beautiful world too…but you are here to grow, so you must also release these wondrous forms and move into ever more sublime realms, forever and ever.

This is the message of the Full Moon in the time of Taurus. It is about the Dance of Life, the path of Liberation that we are all walking and our eventual destiny, which is to join those who have reached beyond the cycles of death and rebirth and are now free. The Lord Buddha, like all teachers, came not to start a religion, he came to remind you who and what you are, he came to show you the way to become fully human. No matter what, you and I are on the path, and the Lords of Compassion are waiting for us all.

Sun Enters Taurus (April 19, 2018)

What are you?

Today marks the next and natural phase of spiritual unfoldment and awakening in the Astrological Year. The first phase of Aries poses the most fundamental question, “Who am I?”. But now it is Taurus, who asks you to consider the equally profound question, “What am I”?

In Aries you are simply trying to be, to know and feel that “I am”. Aries is your most intimate and immediate experience of being self-aware. Through Aries, you encounter you in the considerations of what I call your “Presence”, the many and varied personas you bring to meet the conditions you encounter in the ever-unfolding “Now”.

But in Taurus you move out of this subjective realm into objective reality, you experience yourself as some “thing”. In Taurus you come down to Earth and say, “I am That”. Taurus is your most physical, sensuous experience of life. You open your eyes and see the beauty all around; you open your lungs and breathe in what we all share. You take another breathe, and you smell the flowers; you reach down and touch the earth, and smile, and give thanks to the mother of us all for this, for your life and for your body. You look up and see your star, and you watch the moon, planets and stars whirling overhead and you exclaim, “Ooh, I am so happy, to be surrounded by such beauty, to be part of this amazing, beautiful, wondrous journey…I am so grateful to be part of LIFE”.

Yes, Taurus is life as abundance, as beauty and majesty. Taurus is you being one with life in gratitude, grace and peace. You are here in this wonderful place you call Earth, to feel and taste and touch and smell the wonders of this garden of delights, and to share this abundance of Life-Spirit with all with whom you journey.

But what is it that makes you, you? What do you have that is yours, what gives you the value of you? Well, this is the question of Taurus to you. Through the arc of your life, from infancy through youth, into adulthood and onward, your experience of you and your value or worth will rise and fall in so many ways. The enthusiasms and physical strengths of youth, give way to the gravitas, wisdom (and the aches) of later years. It seems, depending upon your journey, that your best days are still ahead, or far behind you, depending upon how you value you.

But in Truth, at the very heart of you, you remain as you will always be, priceless, beyond all measure, for you know, you are not a human being at all. That is merely the form of your self-realization at this point in your never-ending journey. Truly, at your core, you are a spark of the Divine who is on a never-ending journey of the “Self-That Is Becoming”. You are a monad, an unfolding Spiritual Fire of Life-Spirit-Consciousness and your true worth or value will forever be beyond any finite measure.

So, no matter what you think you are worth today, or yesterday, or a thousand years from now, remember this, you have no way of comprehending the beauty and glory and worth of you. You are the jewel in the lotus, the kiss of dew in the morning, and you are the glorious sunset too.

But then the Ancient Ones will whisper in your heart, “What you know as the resplendent and immortal you, the Heaven that is always within you, (for you never left it truly), this essential spark of you, know in your heart of hearts that this same light of the Divine is in everything too.”

Yes, in every speck and mote of Creation, in every atom, molecule, gas and rock, plant and creature, or planet and star, all of this is Spirit-Life in evolution too. This is what you will understand in Taurus.

What you will know, feel and celebrate in Taurus is that all of this is Beautiful, all of this is Precious, because all of this is the One Life, and all of this is the Creation of the One.

So, give thanks to the sunrise and sunset, to the flowers and the trees, to the mountains and the oceans, yes bow down and give thanks to it all.

With love, bow to the divine within you and with all that surrounds you too.

And every day, turn and really look upon one another, and you will see that supernal light that is shining there.

Yes, smile at one another and be filled with the wonder of this.

Give thanks for all these blessings, give thanks for life and simply say to one another,

Namaste.

Astrology and the USA — Saturn Opposition to Venus and Jupiter (April 10, 2018)

The Meaning of America, Venus and Jupiter in the USA Chart and the Opposition by Saturn

I thought it would be useful for listeners of my radio show, and for the readers of this blog, to have this (more or less) verbatim transcript of my last radio show on the USA, which aired on Saturday April 7th (which you can listen to here).

As I noted in my 2018 forecast with regards to the USA, Saturn will be opposing the USA Venus and Jupiter during this year as Saturn begins its 2.5‑year passage through Capricorn. Moreover, it will move into the middle degrees of Capricorn in 2019 and align with the USA Sun and Saturn. In the past 3 such passages of Saturn through Capricorn, 1988–91, 1959–62 and 1929–32, the USA experienced economic challenges, and these led to upsets or reversals of political power. Now, a pattern does not predict the future, but we should consider why this passage of Saturn through Capricorn might bring these effects, and more importantly understand what the meaning and message is behind this experience.

Astrology can provide insight upon almost any consideration or question, whether individuals, groups or larger entities. Whether one is examining corporate, national or worldly matters astrologers call this branch of astrology Mundane or Worldly Astrology. The Astrological Signs, Planets and Houses of a chart retain much of their essential indications and meanings, but they must also be adjusted with respect to what the object of study is.

For example, the Sun in an individual’s chart indicates that person’s essential character, their pure potential, whereas in a chart of a nation the Sun governs or rules the essential character of the state, and may also indicate the supreme authority or ruler, and the myths or images that the state holds for itself and how others may view it. The Moon in a person’s chart indicates their emotional temperament and needs, of how they react without thinking, whereas in a nation’s chart it rules the masses, “the people” and indicates popular moods, opinions and ideologies.

Today we are will look at the meaning and messages of Venus and Jupiter in the chart of the USA.

Venus and Jupiter:

The USA has its Venus and Jupiter, (and its Sun), in the 7th house, the house of relationship, and all three are in the Sign of Cancer. What this indicates for the USA is that our personal values and self-worth (Venus), and our principles, generosity and good fortune (Jupiter) and our very being and purpose (Sun), is revealed, realized and fulfilled in the nature and quality of our caring (Cancer) relationships to one another (the 7th House) as citizens of this country, and then also externally with regards to the nature of our relationship with the world at large.

What this really means is this: The USA’s True Source of Strength and Value, America’s greatest strength, (with the two “benefics” of Astrology, Venus and Jupiter, our Values and Principles, in the 7th house of relationship), is to be found in our abundant generosity of spirit towards one another and the towards the rest of the world. Our strength, our real wealth, lies in our continuing contribution to one another’s self-fulfillment, to the pursuit of true Happiness.

I spoke and wrote about this understanding of Happiness in my show/blog posting about the August 2017 Eclipse. Here is part of what I stated then:

The True Meaning of “Happiness”

But the most curious phrase, the one people should consider carefully as to what does it mean, is this “Pursuit of Happiness”. Well the true meaning or derivation of happiness comes from the Ancient Teachings or Wisdom, affirmed and restated in Greek Philosophy by Aristotle, and Locke and Jefferson refer back to this ancient understanding or meaning or definition of happiness. The word in Greek that defines this notion of happiness is Eudaimonia.

That word translates literally as “Union with Good Spirit”, or what we might call “Human Flourishing”, or most truly we would say “Human Self-Fulfillment”. What Jefferson was saying is not that people should be allowed to be happy, to just be happy or cheerful or something like this. He was saying this a spiritual matter, and what he was writing about and what we are doing here comes from the story of Humanity, growing and developing and becoming ever more self-aware and self-determined. What we are trying to do here, what the true purpose and goal of human life is to achieve the Union with one’s Higher Self, to experience the truth within by joining with what I call the “Beloved”, or the Divine Spark within us.

Happiness and Self-Fulfillment

What this means for America, is that the foundational value of our Nation is that we are trying to allow and empower each person to be able to pursue their Full Human Potential. In other words, this core principle of our founding document, and we broke from the King because he was denying our right to govern ourselves, we could not fulfill ourselves while being under the rule of a monarchy, and so we justified our breaking free so that we could pursue our right to Self-Fulfillment. We established this as our understanding of the purpose of our Venture, that the true purpose of relationship is that it must serve human Self-Fulfillment.

We have formed our sacred compact with one another, based upon this pledge, that we will fulfill our potentials for and with and through one another, as we steadily move towards and align ourselves with our true and Divine Nature.

This is what Jefferson meant by the Pursuit of Happiness, Jefferson meant Self-Fulfillment through Spiritual Awakening. Which means every choice we make as individuals or as a society, must be grounded in this simple question: Will this Action or Activity bring us closer to universal human self-fulfillment or move us further away from it. We make good and bad decisions every day, all of us do. But to support our own or others greater self-fulfillment is the true goal and way to Happiness.

Our founding as a Nation, was a voluntary agreement or compact with one another. It was seen by our founders and those who followed, as the next step in the evolution of Spirit. According to the Ancient Wisdom, this journey of Spirit can be seen as ever bending towards the eternal truth embodied in the mystery and power of spiritual self-fulfillment. For humans in general, and for the USA in particular, this state of happiness is supported and fulfilled by our freely formed relationships with one another.

The USA represents in the very nature of how it was established, by its founding and foundational documents, (Declaration of Independence and Constitution), that the essential character of the USA would be a state founded not upon blood and soil, not by reference or allegiance to myths of empires and kingdoms, and certainly not be established as a government held and shaped by hierarchies of inherited power. Instead, here individuals would freely choose to join in a compact and govern themselves. This “Revolution in Governance” is beautifully affirmed by the idea inscribed upon the Great Seal of the USA, and this idea expresses our national motto, when the USA declared itself to be a “Novus Ordo Seclorum”, which means “A New Order for the Centuries”.

The founders of this nation understood that what they were creating was something new, something heretofore unfamiliar because it represented a radical break with the past, it was a revolution. Here, in this nation, we would come together and freely determine our relationships with one another. We would surrender all title and privileges and stand as equals to one another; we would be subject to no King, or Prince, or Clan or Class. Instead we agreed to come together as equals and to form a voluntary association, and we established our compact with one another. This sacred compact is sealed and protected by the one and only true ruler in America, the Rule of Law and our Constitution, (which is why the US has Saturn (order), in Libra (the scales of justice) in our 10th house (the ruling authority). In the United States, the law is King, and no one is above the law.

Embodied in our “Law” are the values (Venus) that we have so far evolved, that form and guide our conduct with one another personally. Those values are made into rules (laws) which we have agreed upon, and these are held by the planet Jupiter (the ruler of Law), so that we know how we are expected to conduct ourselves with regards to one another. In other words, we have established these laws as the crystallized form of values with and between one another. The essential heart of those values, with Venus in Cancer, is that we would care for one another…and behind that is the spiritual truth that we intuitively and lovingly understand that our own happiness depends upon, in fact springs from, the well-being and happiness of our fellow brothers and sisters.

But unlike some, who believe that those original laws, our first rules, the Constitution, to be a finished piece and not to be altered, most of us find that the story of human fulfillment is an unfolding one that is far from over. And, so, we must keep improving upon and adding to our values and improving our rules or laws.

The Founding Fathers certainly knew this work was not finished or done with them. They sought to go beyond what had been, yet they could not reach or agree beyond a certain understanding. They struggled over issues and did not overcome some of their own challenges, and so they left it to other generations to face the glaring injustices embodied in our first set of “rules”. How could it be otherwise?

In many ways, as the various planets align over the years with these significant indicators of our journey, we can see the rise and fall of our path as we find and make our way to forge a better union with one another, and create the conditions for our “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”.

In the chart of the USA, it is this conjunction of Venus and Jupiter in Cancer in our 7th house, and the significant transits to these two bodies (and then to the Sun and Saturn), that will mark significant periods in this on-going story of our progress to bring into reality a more spiritual realization of our other motto, e pluribus unum, “Out of Many, One”.

Saturn over Venus/Jupiter:

Every 7 to 8 years, Saturn will make a “hard” contact to the USA Venus, Jupiter (and then Sun and Saturn), and each time it is reminder that our work of forming a more perfect union is far from over. But it is this particular passage, of Saturn in Capricorn and opposite to the USA’s Venus, Jupiter and then Sun which happens every 28–29 years or so, it is this period that elicits a rather dramatic experience of this ongoing struggle to make real the ideal that is the USA.

The Saturn (Reality Principle) challenge to Venus forces a reassessment of the values that do (or do not), hold us together, just as these same values will hold or not hold a family together in shared sensibilities and love for one another, (with Venus in Cancer, the sign of family). Then Saturn to Jupiter will equally challenge the larger systems of belief that form our common understandings and agreements as to what constitutes Reality. Jupiter rules our experience of Truth, (Philosophic, Scientific and Religious). This Saturn passage reveals the strength or weakness of the internal and external bonds that hold us to one another, of our shared values and beliefs that guide our journey to self-fulfillment with and through one another.

Really, every 7 to 8 years, and certainly and more dramatically every 29 years or so like now, we are faced with the need to confront the gap between the ideal and the reality in our values and principles that form and inform our compact with one another.

But Venus and Jupiter hold additional meanings too, and these contribute to other effects that we also experience with this passage of Saturn through Capricorn. Venus, connected with Taurus and Libra, also rules the resources of a nation, so financial institutions, bankers and farmers. Jupiter also rules the National Wealth, and it rules banks, the rich and the general financial life of the nation.

The USA is blessed with Venus and Jupiter conjunct one another, and these are known in Astrology as the “lesser and greater benefics”. The USA is truly blessed by “good fortune”. But just as in a personal chart, good luck is not something one has, it is something one makes. Venus and Jupiter brought together create good fortune precisely because they indicate a generous, bountiful nature. It is because together they create a character of good will and an abundant spirit of generosity. The USA has always been a very generous nation, and as long as continues to do so, it will be rewarded by the return of good fortune too.

But this passage of Saturn over this blessing in the chart for the USA is often marked by economic downturns, recessions or worse. In a way, just as in an individual’s chart, the passage of Saturn like this over Venus can make one feel less valuable, less loved and lead to loss of value internally, and to the breaking of relationships externally. Well, here too that will be the larger reality of what happens to the USA.

Likewise, the opposition to Jupiter will also curtail the generosity and goodwill for one another and towards other nations, and our rule of law will be tested and challenged. Whenever Saturn opposes Jupiter for an individual and in a nation, they will encounter economic difficulties, downturns and upsets.

And, if history is any guide, with Jupiter also indicating the conditions for the ruler of a nation, the last three passages of Saturn in Capricorn have been accompanied by a change of political fortunes in any upcoming election. In all three previous passages, the party in power is turned out. The Winds of Spirit are blowing stronger now, and economic and political change is coming.

We are reminded, once again by “Saturn the Teacher”, that our very own happiness can only be truly experienced by affirming and abiding in our pledge to one another as embodied in our founding documents and principles. Our pledge to one another is:

That we will continuously strive to preserve and improve our union with one another, and
That we lovingly dedicate our lives and fortunes to the well-being of one and all.

In no small measure, we are being asked to remember in this year, (and in the next), that our true good fortune and self-fulfillment rests on, depends upon each of us. “We, the people”, are the truest and greatest treasure in this land. The USA is greatly enriched by our diversity of peoples, for it is from our complex webs of relationships to one another that we forge our wealth and good fortune.

We have taken a sacred oath in our founding, “…we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”

This heartfelt pledge is rooted in a fundamental value of Spiritual Truth, and this is the shining bedrock of our New Order for the Centuries:

True happiness for any of one of us can only be fully realized through our continually striving for the self-fulfillment of one and for all.

Yes, we are on the path where Out of many, we are One.

We, the people are here to love and care for one another,

For we are many, and we are One.
